Meet Our Providers
Dr. Hussam Alsarraf attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina and graduated at the top of his class. He relocated to Durham, NC, for psychiatry residency training at Duke University where he excelled and became chief resident. Since graduation, Dr. Hussam Alsarraf has developed special interests in treating complicated psychiatric illnesses with a particular focus on mood and anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, personality disorders, and stress-related physical complaints. Dr. Hussam Alsarraf prides himself in bringing both expertise and compassion to the forefront of his practice. In addition to conventional treatment approaches, Dr. Hussam Alsarraf incorporates insight-oriented therapy through mindfulness into each session in order to foster self-understanding and empower patients to make positive and long-lasting changes in their lives. Dr. Hussam Alsarraf is committed to providing personalized care with an empathic approach that not only addresses symptoms but also focuses on the promotion of an all-rounded holistic growth of his patients and incorporates state of the art techniques through utilization of the most advanced procedures including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and ketamine treatment. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, running, volunteering in the community, exploring nature, and cooking, in particular barbecuing.
Dr. Oday Alsarraf was a triple major in college and attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina graduating with both an MD and PhD. He completed his residency in adult psychiatry and fellowship training in child & adolescent psychiatry at the University of Chicago. He has received countless awards and recognitions for his research and teaching skills, appeared on many TV broadcasts, and has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. Since completion of fellowship training, he has maintained an academic position as clerkship director of medical student training in psychiatry at the University of Illinois and has worked extensively with patients suffering from the most complicated of psychiatric disorders. Dr. Oday Alsarraf has widespread experience in treating patients of all ages in the inpatient and outpatient setting. He has worked in numerous subspecialty fields in psychiatry including forensic, addiction, consultation liaison, child and adolescent, geriatric, and emergency psychiatry. Dr. Oday Alsarraf uses psychotherapeutic approaches with all his patients and uses a step-by-step methodology in getting to know his patients while incorporating a deliberate and intentional style to better understand reasons for stress and complications prior to using the most up to date pharmacologic approaches in treatment. In his extra time, he enjoys playing soccer, chess, card and board games, personal training, life coaching, and traveling.
Alicia is deeply committed to promoting mental health well-being as a bilingual (English and Spanish) speaking board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Carolinas College of Health Sciences with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, then obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, after which Alicia decided to commit her life to treating patients with mental health disorders and graduated with an MSN from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021. Alicia has experience working in the inpatient and outpatient settings and has developed the skills necessary to treat the most complicated of psychiatric illnesses. She excels in psychotherapeutic approaches focusing on helping patients from all cultural backgrounds develop coping strategies to deal with life stressors. Alicia is dedicated to advocating for mental health across diverse communities. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her dogs, Charlie a Miniature Schnauzer, and Coco a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
